 Hi,

We are a Latino/Multicultual soccer team looking for other teams to Play games with.  Right now we do not belong to a regular league, but have chosen to form our own team. (We plan to play indoor soccer in the fall.)  We practice twice weekly, on public park fields in Bothell (the only ones available to us right now).  We really want to play other teams and are trying to contact anyone interested. We speak both English and Spanish and we call ourselves "Multicultural" because we welcome anyone to be on our team, regardless of race or culture. (Actually, one of our players is from Bulgaria!

If you have any information, or if you have a team that would like to engage in friendly pick-up games, or are interested in forming your own team too,  let us know. Our team coordinator is experienced at starting teams, and had two Latino girls' teams for four years--the only ones in the whole area! We would like to begin a girls' soccer club again, but right now we are concentrating on the boys U-17.

We are also looking for someone to coach a U-13 team, as we have boys that would like to play but now coach for this age group.

O.K. Enough about that!

The other thing that is happening right now is this: The WSYSA has recognized that there are not enough opportunities for Latino/ Multicultural  children and Youth to play soccer.  Even though low income kids get a break and have reduced registration fees, the other additional costs are way too much for their families to afford. There are other issues that I won't take the time to discuss at the moment. We are trying to ovecome some of them by forming our own soccer team. One drawback, however, is that without the 1 million dollar insurance policy that the city requires, we cannot rent any portion of any Sports fields. That means we play on whatever we can find. Wow. Kind of like street soccer--only a few more tufs of grass and occasional ruts and bumps. (We believe that by playing on less than perfect ground, we will be able to really controll the ball well when we finally do the the chance to play on a real soccer field!!!--at least that's what we choose to believe!)

Anyway, the WSYSA is having a meeting in a week, to discuss forming a committee to form some sort of Latino/Multicultural program so more kids can play soccer!  YAY!  We'll see how it goes.

That's all for now. Please contact us if you are interested in playing a motivated, high energy, fun team!

 Thanks!
